FAN community meeting chooses Board of Directors 1-12-17

Team Observer was on site January 12 at Tribal Operations for a Families Against Narcotics (FAN) meeting where over a hundred people packed into the Seniors Room to discuss addiction in our community. Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Court Judge Patrick Shannon thanked Tribal Chaplain Diana Quigno-Grundahl for opening the meeting with prayer and the Anishinaabe Ogitchedaw Veterans Warrior Society for bringing in the Saginaw Chippewa Eagle Staff and the SCIT Tribal flag.

Team Observer joined over 200 supporters who took a stand July 30 against drugs and alcohol on the Reservation at Freedom Walk 2016. The annual event took place at the Eagles Nest Tribal Gym and participants received a Nbakade Restaurant breakfast buffet and a beautiful tee shirt designed by Freedom Walk Coordinator Alice Jo Ricketts.

The homecoming started with a traditional Grand Entry as the Anishinabe Ogichedaw Veteran’s Warrior Society marched in the Tribal Eagle Staff and flags as the High Spirit Singers sand with the heartbeat of our nation. Tribal Elder Cynthia Floyd offered a beautiful invocation and blessing for the meal prepared by the Soaring Eagle Food & Beverage department.

Team Observer was on location June 17 at the Saganing Traditional Powwow grounds as At-Large/Members Services staff joined with SECR and Saganing Eagles Lansing Maintenance crews in preparation for the June 18 and 19 event. Tribal Chief Frank Cloutier provided some sweat equity and went shoulder to shoulder with the volunteers who constructed the powwow arbor.
