United Tribes Meeting

Joseph V. Sowmick - October 23, 2013

In an effort to provide regular bonus coverage throughout the month, Team Observer joins the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Council in welcoming United Tribes of Michigan (UTM) as they begin their two day gathering at the SECR Three Fires Room.  UTM is a coalition representing Michigan’s twelve Federally recognized Tribes.

President Larry Romanelli (Ogema of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians) introduced UTM Executive Director Frank Ettawageshik who shared a Migizi song.  Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Chairman Aaron Payment honored the delegate in the spirit of prayer.  A full agenda of issues affecting Indian Country awaits the delegates followed by an evening reception with a special guest of honor, former Congressman Dale Kildee (D-Flint).  Miigwetch!
