SAGINAW CHIPPEWA CHIEF Fred Cantu Jr., helps cut the ribbon with Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce ambassadors during the Feb. 23 dedication of Isabella County’s new drug and alcohol detoxification center in Union Township. The $775,000 project is located just north of High Street in Central Michigan Community Hospital’s new medical park. The Tribe contributed $200,000 to the six-bed detox center in the form of a 2 percent disbursement. Also pictured are Saginaw Chippewa Public Relations Director Joseph Sowmick smudging the building prior to the dedication, as well as Saginaw Chippewa Behavioral Health Administrator Hunter Genia offering an honor song during the dedication ceremony.

Detroit Lions vs. Mt. Pleasant Area All Stars (Sagchip Lion Tamers) took place Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Mt. Pleasant High School Gym. Great fun was had during this Sobriety event. Click here to view the video (approximately 10 minutes).
