New Eligibility Requirements
for Direct Health Services

Effective April 1, 2006 changes in the eligibility criteria for services at Behavioral
Health & Nimkee Wellness Memorial Center are as follows:

• must be a member of a United States Federally Recognized Indian
Tribe or a Direct Descendant of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe (who has
a parent that is an enrolled member of SCIT)

• must provide proof of residence in of the five counties covered by
Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe (Clare, Isabella, Midland, Arenac, &
Missaukee)

• members of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe & Direct Descendants
of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe living outside of the service
area are eligible for direct services

To receive services you must:

• Provide documentation of descendancy or a Tribal Membership card
or a letter from the BIA.
• Provide proof of residency: acceptable documents include driver’s license,
voter’s registration, or utility bill with current address.
