Laura Lund

 

Laura Lund, DDS
Chief Dental Officer, Nimkee Dental Clinic

Dr. Lund graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry in 1994, and completed a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in 1995. Joining the US Public Health Service/Indian Health Service as a Commissioned Officer in 1995, Dr. Lund began working with the Nez Perce Tribe in Idaho. She transferred to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to work with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in 1998, where she has been ever since. For Dr. Lund, it continues to be a pleasure to work and grow with the SCIT. She is a firm believer in respect, good manners, kindness, and the belief that if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing right. She continually strives to carry these tenets into both her professional and personal lives. When not working, she enjoys hugging her family, reading, taking walks and stained glass art.



Douglas Yauch

Dr. Debbie Meacham
Staff Dentist

Debbie was born and raised in Troy, Michigan. She went to undergraduate school at the University of Michigan. Immediately after graduation, Debbie went to the University of Detroit Dental School. She met her husband in California, and shortly after they moved to California. Debbie opened her own private practice there and stayed for over 20 years. Deciding to return to Michigan to be closer to family Debbie accepted the position of Staff Dentist at Nimkee and feels she has a new "dental family" with the staff at Nimkee and the tribal members.



Ona Erdt

Dr. Ona Erdt, DMD
Staff Dentist

Dr. Ona Erdt obtained her DMD degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, California. It was here that she received training based on the philosophy that the dentist is an important member of a patient’s overall healthcare team, and that oral health is an important component of overall health. With 10 years of experience as a dental assistant prior to dental school, 4 years being in hospital dentistry, she experienced first-hand how conditions of the body affect the oral cavity and how conditions of the oral cavity affect the body. It is because of this she strives to provide the highest quality dental care with treatment plans that are based on providing the ultimate in oral and whole body health. When not at the office, Dr. Erdt enjoys scrapbooking, beading, and spending time with her husband of 14 years, Jay, and their 10 year old Shepard/Chow Chow dog son Akira.



Rochelle Roberts

Rochelle Roberts, RDH
Registered Dental Hygienist

Rochelle graduated from Lansing Community College in 2007 with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene and graduated from Siena Heights University in August 2013 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene with a minor in Healthcare Management. Rochelle has a passion for dental hygiene and provides the most comprehensive, up-to-date patient care as possible with an emphasis on proper patient education. Rochelle is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and very active with her local component Capital Region Dental Hygienists including Component Editor and Delegate to the Michigan Dental Hygienists' Association House of Delegates. Outside of work Rochelle enjoys spending time her family, including her husband and son. For fun Rochelle likes to go to the races, as well as running and reading.



Rochelle Roberts

Mykala Strzelecki, RDH
Registered Dental Hygienist

Mykala graduated from Kellogg Community College in 2013, with an Associate in Applied Science. She is licensed to practice Dental Hygiene and provide Local Anesthetic and Nitrous Oxide in the State of Michigan. She came back to her hometown of Bay City, MI post-graduation, and shortly moved a little farther north to Linwood. Mykala joined Nimkee Dental in January of 2015; she is married and had her first son January of 2016. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, ice fishing, walking, and “glamping.”



Misty Davis

Misty Davis, RDH
Registered Dental Hygienist

Misty grew up in Isabella County and attended Lansing Community College for dental hygiene. After graduating, she and her husband moved to York, Pennsylvania and lived there for 8 years. During that time, she completed her Bachelor’s degree, became involved in the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienist’s Association, and explored much of the Northeast. Her love of Michigan brought them back in December 2015, and she has been happily working at Nimkee Dental since then. She is now a member of the Michigan Dental Hygienist’s Association, a beekeeper, a cat lover, and a nature enthusiast.



Julie Ulch

Julie A. Ulch, CDA
Certified Dental Assistant

Julie started her career in dentistry in 1993. She has been working for the Saginaw Indian tribe since May, 2000. Julie acquired her certification in 2002 and in 2006 received her Expanded Functions certificate from the IHS Haskell Development Center in Lawrence Kansas. She enjoys her job here at Nimkee and the patients. She also enjoys boating and gardening. She also enjoys her sons Andrew and Austin and her new grandson Parker.



Monica Richer

Monica Richer, DA
Dental Assistant

Monica started with the Tribe in August 2000. She feels as Blessed now as she did when she first started. Monica thinks the smile is a personality indicator and truly enjoys increasing one's smile and personality. Monica has made many new friends and very much loves visiting with the older ones.



Elizabeth Simon

Elizabeth Simon, RDA
Registered Dental Assistant

Elizabeth began her dental assisting education in 2003. In 2007 she graduated from Delta College with an Associate in Applied Science degree and passed her state board exam receiving her RDA license. In the spring of 2009 Elizabeth began working for the SCIT at the Nimkee Dental Clinic. Elizabeth feels very lucky to work in such a beautiful clinic and to have so many wonderful people to work with. Elizabeth enjoys her job and hopes to be part of the Nimkee family for a very long time.



Annette Plarske

Annette Plarske, DA
Dental Assistant

Annette graduated from Grand Rapids Educational Center in 1990. She has been a dental assistant on and off since then. Annette always seemed to come back to work in the dental field; she loves it. She loves working with the patients, whether it’s working to improve their smile or helping to lessen the fear of the dental experience. Annette says, “The constant change that comes with being an assistant is never boring because there is always something new and exciting happening.”



Andrea Mayer

Andrea (Andi) Mayer, DA
Dental Clinic Specialist

Andi has been employed with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, at the Nimkee Dental Clinic since October 2005. She has been in the dental profession since 1989 and is currently working as the Dental Clinic's Receptionist. Andi thoroughly enjoys the dental profession and working for the Tribe.

Travis Chamberlain
Receptionist

Travis currently goes to Mid-Michigan Community College. He is very excited to start his new journey with Nimkee Dental; while still continuing his education at MMCC. Travis enjoys being outdoors and staying active.

Rico Galaviz, DA
Dental Assistant

Rico has been in the dental field for a little over 2 years. He began his schooling in March of 2014. He received his first offer before he even finished school. Upon completion, he started his first dental gig at a clinic in Saginaw, MI, where he worked hard, long hours just to get his foot in the door. Rico worked his way up to a lead assistant position; which he accepted a year later at another dental clinic in Flint, MI. There he was primarily responsible for the organization and communication between 3 dentists and 4 assistants daily, 8 assistants total. He worked here for another year before finding out about the dental assistant position vacant at the wonderful Nimkee Dental Clinic. After his interview he already knew this was the place he wanted to be for the duration of his career. When not working, Rico enjoys time with his two children, going to the beach, camping, sports, pretty much anything a typical male would do.
