On September 26, 2011 Tribal Administration approved the increase of motor fuel and tobacco. After calculating the surplus of tax free motor fuel and tobacco we will be increasing the motor fuel monthly quota to eighty (80) gallons of motor fuel and tobacco monthly quota to three (3) cartons of tobacco. The same rules and regulation will apply for motor fuel and tobacco. It will be your responsibility to monitor your monthly total and ensure that you do not go over the monthly total. Resident Tribal Members MUST present their ID to receive the exemption and MUST be the vehicle that they have on file with the Business Regulation Office to receive the motor fuel exemption.

Michigan Annual Tax Sales Credit 4013 forms are in. Please stop by the Business Regulations Office to pick up this form. This form is needed when filing your taxes with the State of Michigan if you choose to receive your tax credit. Since the Tax Agreement with the State of Michigan started on June 1, 2011 you are only able to claim a maximum of 6 months for this exemption. Please do not hesitate to contact the Tribal Office of Business Regulation and speak with Chris Sineway if you have any questions or concerns about the Tax Agreement. If you moved out of the Agreement Area anytime during the year you need to adjust your tax credit accordingly. This form only applies to Resident Tribal Members so please make sure that you qualify for this exemption before filing your taxes with the State of Michigan.

The monthly quotas have remained at the current levels of 80 gallons of gasoline and 3 cartons of cigarettes and will remain here for this quarter. Please make sure that you show your Resident Tribal Member card at the time of purchase. Also make sure that if you have more than one vehicle and have most current vehicle registered at the Business Regulation Office.

Remember when requesting a vehicle exemption, you must first fill out an application to before you can receive it. This consists of knowing where you are going to purchase the vehicle and vehicle information (year, make, model, and vehicle identification number). Please remember to receive the fuel and tobacco exemption you need to have vehicle registered with this office and have your residency card present.
