Chi-Asin Powwow to take place June 17-19

The At-Large Department’s annual Chi-Asin powwow is viewed as a culturally-balanced event that promotes the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe’s historical significance in southern Saginaw County.

“The Place of our Ancestors” traditional powwow will take place June 17-19 at Showboat Park in Chesaning.

Tribe allocates $3.7 million in 2 percent funds

About $3.7 million was allocated to local governments, area schools and municipalities during the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan’s semiannual 2 percent disbursement process.

Looking back 25 years, we wouldn’t have dreamed the Isabella Reservation turning into a world-class destination. The phenomenal growth that our Tribe has experienced is unbelievable and we have been blessed. Flourishing from the car bingo in the late 1970s, we are now Michigan’s largest bingo operation. I, as well as many other Tribal members, are very proud to have been a part of the success since the commencement of bingo in the early 1980s.
