The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is currently seeking seven Tribal members to serve on the 2002 Powwow Committee. There are sign-up sheets located throughout Tribal Operations and the Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center.

Attending the scheduled meetings are an important factor while serving on the powwow committee. Everyone will have to help in all areas as needed during the powwow weekend event. It's hard work. Powwow attendants may have seen a few of the committee members working that weekend, so people who don't like to sweat should leave a space for someone else.

The committee will be selected after the General Elections scheduled on Nov. 6. After the election, the new Tribal Council will review the lists and select the new 2002 Powwow Committee. Names should be submitted by Nov. 2. Once the committee is selected, the former chairperson will notify those individuals and schedule the first meeting to help gear things off. Any questions may be forwarded to former chairperson Mary Alice Perez at (989) 775-4072 during business hours. She will also sign up any interested people.

People interested in having their names added to the list may call the Tribal Operations Front Desk at (989) 775-4000 and ask the receptionist to sign them up. The receptionist will need the interested person's name, address and phone number.
