Information sought for upcoming Native book

Saginaw Chippewa artisan and entrepreneur Steve Sowmick is seeking information from mid-Michigan area Anishinabek concerning their educational experiences for an upcoming book project.

The broad spectrum Sowmick has targeted includes area public schools, as well as the Mt. Pleasant Indian School.

"It's making that connection of what it means growing up Native," he explained. "I'm seeking all sorts of input and recognition will be given to those who help out in the project."

Sowmick added he hopes to create a clearinghouse for Native American information.

Besides a book, he said he intends to published the information on a web site.

Along with educational experiences, Sowmick said he's also looking for Native American recipes and music.
