During last year's inaugural Native American Idol at the Soaring Eagle Entertainment Hall, Esther Mays-Cole and two classmates dazzled the crowd with an inspirational version of "Angel" by Amanda Perez.

"It's fun being up there on stage singing," said partner Cree Glavis.

This year's event will take place on April 13 at 6 p.m. and is scheduled in the Soaring Eagle Entertainment Hall.

Besides singing, last year's show also featured interpretive dance, ballet, oration and piano-playing.

"It's basically an opportunity for the students to express their individual talents and interests regarding entertainment," stated middle school teacher John Shelton. "I get so excited about the talent show. The kids really put their hearts into it."

Middle school principal Judy Pamp echoed those sentiments.

"The students really look forward to the show," she said. "They put a lot of effort into it. They're even talking about getting together over spring break to practice their acts."
