The annual event pays homage to sobriety and those whose lives have been impacted by alcohol and drugs.

Freedom Walk 2004 will take place Aug. 7 in conjunction with the 20th Annual Little Elk's Retreat Powwow. Registration opens at 7 a.m. in the Tribal Gymnasium, followed by a breakfast 30 minutes later. Speakers will share their insight from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and then the walk will commence to the powwow grounds.

Besides the free breakfast buffet, T-shirts will be given out to the first 300 registered participants. There will also be a shuttle service available to and from the Saginaw Chippewa Campgrounds, plus accommodations for those unable to walk. Raffles and giveaways are also being planned.
