REED, HELEN MARIE, age 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.
Funeral Services for Helen will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Gym with Fred Cantu, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Following graveside services there will be a luncheon held in the Tribal Gym. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with a Prayer Service Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Visitation will continue from 1 p.m. until the time of Service on Saturday, June 20, at the Tribal Gym.
Helen was born on September 15, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of George and Emma (Peters) Slater. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in the Class of 1959. Helen married L.E. Reed, Sr. on June 27, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant. She was employed for twenty years with Giantway Warehouse. Helen was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. She enjoyed traveling and loved the casino, bingo and poker. Family was of utmost importance to Helen and she enjoyed most of all spending time with them.
Helen is survived by her husband, L.E. Reed, Sr. of Mt. Pleasant; her 3 children, L.E. Reed, Jr. (Susan), Jeffery Reed (Kathy), and Leon Reed (Michelle), all of Mt. Pleasant; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Flaugher, L.E. Reed III, Kyle Reed, Ashley Reed, Heidi Reed, Garrett Reed, and Jacob Reed; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Allen Slater (Cheryl) of Sanford, Gerald Slater and George Slater (Deb), both of Mt. Pleasant; 3 sisters Sharon Matthews (Ralph) of Mt. Pleasant, Bonnie Cantu (Fred Sr.) of Mt. Pleasant, and Colleen Sisco (David) of Lake.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Freeman; sisters Loraine Kennedy, Sandra Boyce, and Kelly David; and infant twin Elizabeth.
