John R. Martin of Mt. Pleasant, age 71 , passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Andahwod
Assisted Living Facility in Mt. Pleasant, following a lingering illness. He was born November 27, 1942 in Caro,
the son of the late Leo and Madeline (Freeman) Martin. John was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian
Tribe of Michigan, and enjoyed watching sports and going to the casino.
John is survived by one sister and her husband, Virginia (Robert) LaMere of Bay City; one sister-in-law, Viola
Martin of Caro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in
death by one brother, William Martin; and one niece, Julie Ann Marie Martin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Billie Jo and Ryan Davies for all their help with "Uncle
John".
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral
Home in Caro. Burial will follow at lndianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at
the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m.
until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider
