Andrea E. Ursuy

URSUY, MRS. ANDREA E. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper Campus. Age 74 years. The daughter of the late Morrell and Marjorie (Dempsey) Mathers, Andrea was born September 1, 1938 in Pontiac, Michigan and was a member of the Chippewa Indian Tribe. She married Gary Ursuy on January 10, 1959. He survives her. Andrea earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education at Saginaw Valley State University. She served her entire teaching career in the Bridgeport-Spaulding School District until her retirement in 2000. Andrea was a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and Holy Family Catholic Church. Surviving besides her husband Gary are four sons and one daughter, David, Dennis and Daniel Ursuy, Douglas Ursuy and his wife Carrie and Dana Wilkinson, all of Saginaw; six grandchildren, David Jr., Hillary, Claire, Gary, Kyle and Kayla; a sister, Barbara and Richard Huffine, Los Angeles, California; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Julie Vogelsang; Andrea's god-daughter, Leanne Ursuy. Andrea was preceded in death by an infant brother, David. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. David Jenuwine will officiate. Honoring Andrea's wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Deacon Roger Pasionek, will take place at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Kidney Fund. Andrea supported the Michigan Organ & Tissue Donation Program, Gift of Life, and encouraged everyone to give so others can live.
