Beloved mother and grandmother (Mt. Pleasant, Michigan

passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at her home. Age 67 years. The daughter of the late Archie and Verona (Hunt) Fowler, Joan was born on December 31, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married William Myers. He predeceased in November of 1983. She was a supervior for the U.S. Census Bureau. Joan surrounded herself around the history and culture of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe and was very active within it. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are four daughters and two sons, Jodi Smith, Burt; Judy Flory, Birch Run; William and Robin Myers, Houston, Texas; Tina Myers and her fiancé, Nate McKinney, Saginaw; James Myers, Saginaw; Brandi and Ed Nusbaum, Auburn; seven grandchildren, Jerry Johnson, Alex Smith, Megan Smith, Elizabeth Myers, Julia Flory, Brieauna Myers, Jimmy Myers; two sisters and one brother, Judy and Jerry Potter, Dolly and Bill Holzhausen and James Fowler; special friends, Sharon and Ron Douglas. Joan was preceded in death by a special friend, Sam Hachem.
Honoring Mrs. Myers wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Steve Pego will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will present on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
