Sally W. Huntley

Sally W. Huntley, 79, of Harrison passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Central Michigan Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Sally was born September 25, 1931 in Isabella County, Michigan, the daughter of Stella (Chamberlain) Strong. Sally was united in marriage to Mr. Stuart “Bud” D. Huntley on September 20, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. They resided in Harrison since their wedding where they raised their two daughters. While Bud was in the service, Sally went to work, managing the Pixie restaurant. Sally also was a member of several bowling teams, one of which was Harrison Gas and Oil. For many years, she worked on the City of Harrison election board and became an expert book-keeper for Huntley Oil Co. Mrs. Huntley was a member of the Harrison Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many leadership positions for the women and children’s organizations. Sally enjoyed sewing, reading, snowmobiling, camping and caring for her grandchildren. She was always serving others and happy to be with her family and friends. In turn, Sally was adored by those around her, especially her family members.

He Surviving Sally is her loving husband of fifty eight years, Mr. Stuart “Bud” D. Huntley, of Harrison, two daughters, Sherry Hileman and husband Bill of Harrison and Tammy Nowicki and husband Joe of Holland, Michigan, one sister, Jacky Roach of Hudson, Florida, one brother, Jim Stinson and wife Bonnie of Rosebush, Michigan, nine grandchildren, Corie Wyatt and husband Brad, Cassie Hileman, Bill Hileman and wife Kristin, Travis Hileman and wife Nicole, Carly Young and husband Greg, Matt Nowicki, Cody Hileman, Dan Nowicki and Megan Nowicki, six great-grandchildren, Emily Wyatt, Noah Wyatt, Ellen Wyatt, Brynn Hileman, Will Hileman and Logan Young, plus many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Huntley was preceded in death by her mother, one sister, Janice Strong and two brothers, Ted and Harvey Strong.

Funeral services for Mrs. Huntley will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with President Insung Lee officiating. Visitation for Sally will take place Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home. Burial will be in Denver Township Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
