PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
June 2, 2020

Isabella County is committed to joining Governor Gretchen Whitmer in safely reengaging the
workplace following her rescission of the “Stay Safer at Home” order. Although several facilities
remain closed to the public, Isabella County is excited to announce that it will resume its Material
Recovery Facility (MRF) operations on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. Thank you for your
patience while we suspended operations to assure the safety of those hand sorting and processing
the recycling materials.

Workplace safeguards are now in place at the MRF to mitigate COVID-19 exposure risks for
workers. Safeguards include enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE) for recycling
processors, drivers, operators and management, as well as physical workplace improvements for
worker protection.

Beginning on Thursday, June 4, 2020, residents will be able to drop off recyclables (cardboard,
paper, plastics, tin, etc.) at the MRF located at 4208 E. River Road, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At
this time, residents will not need to sign in at the MRF office to identify their jurisdiction, and there
will be no charge to drop off yard waste or brush. Starting June 22, 2020, regular fees will apply.
Also beginning June 4, 2020, the MRF drivers will begin servicing the recycling depot locations
throughout the County. Please keep in mind that it will take time to transport each container and
service each location. Depot locations can be found on the County’s website at
www.isabellacounty.org/recycling.

Curbside services will resume on Monday, June 8, 2020. In an effort to service as many curbside
residents as possible, we are resuming curbside operations with a limit on the amount of material
picked up per stop. Each curbside stop will be limited to recycling materials equivalent to three (3)
blue or black bins. If a resident has excess recyclables, they are encouraged to bring the remaining
material to the MRF, a depot location, or save the material for the next scheduled curbside pick-up.
Beginning Monday, June 8, 2020, the normal curbside schedule will resume with Union Township.

The week of June 8th through June 12th will maintain the following curbside schedule:

Monday – Union Township
Tuesday – Union Township & Deerfield Township
Wednesday – Deerfield Township
Thursday – Deerfield Township
Friday – Village of Lake Isabella
The week of June 15
th through June 19th will maintain the following curbside schedule:
Monday – Village of Shepherd
Tuesday – Lincoln Township and Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe
Wednesday – Lincoln Township and Union Township
Thursday – Union Township
Friday – Rolland Township

Please refer to the schedule for curbside services posted on the County’s website at
www.isabellacounty.org/recycling to determine the next scheduled pick-up date.
Residents visiting the MRF who need to access the facility will be required to make an appointment
and fill out a health screening questionnaire prior to entry. Please call (989) 773-9631 to set up an
appointment. All residents requiring fee services as of June 22, 2020 at the MRF will need to set up
an account for billing purposes, as payments are not currently being accepted at the MRF office.
Please contact Edwina Clark at eclark@isabellacounty.org or (989) 773-9631 to establish an
account for the 2020 season.

Until further notice, the MRF will not accept motor oil or tires for disposal.
