Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University. He teaches Substance Abuse and Community Health classes and has been with the university for the past 11 years. He currently is the academic adviser for the substance abuse minor. He is the current academic adviser for CMU’s Eta Sigma Gamma. He is very up-to-date on substance abuse and issues pertaining to the neurobiology of the brain regarding substance abuse and mental health. Marty also worked for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for five years as the clinical supervisor for Behavioral Health. He often has a line of students at his door asking for advice and guidance in their college career. Mary Pine is from Wiwemikong First Nation, Ontario, Canada. She is married to Jake Pine. She resided in Garden River along the Echo River. Mary has one boy and one girl and she has a good relationship with Jake’s children and grandchildren. She has one course remaining in the Native Human Service Program to complete. She has put off her studies to work in Native organizations in Canada and the United States. She has worked for the past nine years as a traditional healer helper. Jake Pine is from Garden River First Nation, Ontario, Canada. Jake is married to Mary Pine. He has resided in Garden River along the Echo River for more than 50 years. He has five boys and 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He has been working in Native organizations in Canada and the United States for the past 30 years as a traditional healer (traditional practitioner).
