Services: Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, Rev. Rick Blunt of First United Methodist Church of Lowell, officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Lowell, 621 E. Main St., Lowell, MI 49331-1796. Roth-Gerst

Betty Jane Powell, aged 80, long time resident of Lowell, passed away after a long illness, Saturday, September 4, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Shelley Ann Thomas and Fondarae Brown; son-in-law, Chris Thomas. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lloyd Powell; children, Jane Smith, Lewis Powell, and Lloyd Powell, Jr.; son-in-law, Edward Brown; brother, William (Louise) Bouck; sister, Gloria (Robert) King; nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty was a Native American Indian and member of the Black River Saginaw Chippewa Tribe. She raised her five children, loved her animals, and traveling with Lloyd all over the United States. Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, Rev. Rick Blunt of First United Methodist Church of Lowell, officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
