After School Program @ West

Dates are being determined as we speak and should be solidified by the end of the first week of school. Three days a week there will be after-school homework program at West in room 113 from 2:30 until 4pm. All students in the program are welcome to stay after school and get assistance with their assignments.

Required Forms For K-12 Services - Important!

If your child is new to West and they have received Tribal K-12 Education services at their prior school, I will need a new “Release” form that will allow Gail and me to provide any services.

If they are new to Tribal K-12 Education or attended SCA previously, there are additional forms that need to be submitted. The appropriate forms must be on file to be eligible for services. Look for forms being sent home with your child or call us for info.

WAG’s (Week at a Glance)

If your child is on Teams A, B, C, or D and you would like to get added to their respective WAG’s (upcoming week’s assignments) emailing, shoot me an email at jshelton@sagchip.org or give me a call.  I will forward your email to the appropriate team leader.  This is a great tool for parents to keep on top of their child’s upcoming assignments.

MPPS Bus Service

Busses are available for all students who attend West Intermediate.  Please make sure all

students arrive to school prior to their Advisory class.  School starts promptly at 7:29 and riding the bus will assure students will be to class on time.  Please call:

Mt. Pleasant Schools Transportation Department

(989) 775-2323

West Lunch Hours

Just an FYI for parents dropping off things or visiting students during lunch hour. Starting this year, 8th grade students will eat first while 7th grade goes outside. Half way thru their respective lunch hour, students will switch and 7th graders will enter for lunch as 8th grade goes outside. The first lunch is 4th period from 10:39 - 11:21 and the second lunch is 5th period from 11:24 - 12:06.

Girls Basketball and Cross-Country

Girls Basketball and Cross-Country are starting the first week of school. Please call the office for further details. Julie Maxon and Ron Meier are the coaches for basketball and Steve Hoyle is the coach for cross-country.

K-12 Homework Lab

The K-12 Homework Lab will be opening Monday, September 14. It will be operating from 3-5pm Monday thru Thursday. Students from all grade levels are taking advantage of this time to complete their homework.  Aides from K-12 Services will be monitoring the Homework Lab. It is located at the north-west corner of the Tribal gym.

Visiting West Intermediate

Two years ago, all MPPS’s went into “lock-down” mode and now all visitors have to get buzzed in through the main door. Also, all visitors must sign in at the main office and get a visitors pass. Please be aware that although this may be an inconvenience, it is in the best interest of students and staff.
