Pavilion Ribbon Cutting

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian of Michigan will have a Ribbon Cutting for the new Native Farmers Market Pavilion located at Broadway and Leaton Roads on Tuesday, August 18th starting at 9:30 am.

The new pavilion is provided through a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in an effort to provide support to Native American communities in 18 states.  The Tribe was awarded $200,000 for a Farmers Market Pavilion during July 2014. CMS&D Surveying/Engineering, Case Architecture, Inc. and the Native Farmers Market Committee developed plans for a 40 x 50 pavilion which includes a sidewalk and parking lot.

“The Native Farmers Market will help give us healthy choices right in our own community.  Our ancestors remained healthy by consuming fresh fruits and vegetables.” states Julius Peters, Tribal Council Member.
