February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

I wanted to share these opportunities for parents, advocates, community members, and youth!

“NativeLove (a NIWRC program) and the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) works to raise awareness, create educational tools about Teen Dating Violence, empower teens to demand safety in their relationships, and to uplift their voices.” -NIWRC

NIWRC’s NativeLove Program hosted a Teen Dating Panel on February 7 (Today) which can be viewed on their Instagram page   @ nativeloveis

In this video Native youth spent time together via zoom discussing current topics in Teen Dating like respectful communication, affirmative consent, and healthy boundaries.

The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center will also be hosting a webinar on February 23rd for advocates and parents called “Ending Teen Dating Violence and Cultivating Healthy Relationships”. Discussion to include; available tools and resources for Native youth, defining violent vs healthy relationships, and how you can empower the next generation through Indigenous values.

You can register for the webinar on the NIWRC website or at the link provided below and learn how to recognize the signs of teen dating violence and where to get help.
