Immersion House:   Anishinaabemowin Immersion is a method of language instruction in which Anishinaabemowin is used in all activities.

Anishinaabemowin is the vehicle for communication from the instructor.  It is not the subject of instruction.  All activities are shared in Anishinaabemowin by the fluent speaker.  People learn the language naturally through everyday conversation and activities (cooking, cleaning, making labels, craft making, etc).

The participant will learn Anishinaabemowin through tasks and other activities in the Immersion House.

By seeing, doing and experiencing in the most comfortable home-like setting of the “Immersion House”, a person will acquire Anishinaabemowin.

Note: Participants have a 5 person max, not including the fluent speaker.

Resource CenterAnishinaabemdaa Language Center has language resources and tools to help promote Anishinaabemowin to Sasiwaans parents and to the Saginaw Chippewa Community.

TranslationsThe language specialist is a Fluent Speaker who does translations in many different areas.  They range from prayers, to commands, names of places, common action verbs, events, or spirit names.  This is not limited to just these.

The Outreach Language Specialist uses various techniques to assist second language learners in learning how to master Anishinaabemowin.  People learn in different ways.  Some learn through visual, others learn through written and still others learn through hearing and speaking.  Others learn through a combination of these.
