The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Council Elect was sworn in today, Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at the December General Council Meeting. Judge Patrick Shannon administered the Oath of Office to each tribal council member and then opened the floor for nominations for Tribal Chief. Tim Davis was voted in and will serve as the newly elected Chief of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for the 2019-2021 term.

 

Secret ballots were cast and the following council members were elected for the remaining executive positions: Sub-Chief Joe Kequom (District III Representative); Treasurer Maia Spotted Tail; Secretary Jennifer Wassegijig. Please see the attached results sheet for a breakdown of the executive positions.

 

Martha Wemigwans was elected to serve as the Sergeant-At-Arms and Alice Jo Ricketts will serve as Tribal Chaplain. Ronald Ekdahl, Theresa Peters-Jackson, Ron Nelson (District II Representative), Chip Neyome, Carmen Otto, and Gayle Ruhl are the other elected Tribal Council members that will serve alongside the newly seated executive council.  

 

Tribal Chief Tim Davis shares, “It is truly an honor to be selected to serve as Tribal Chief for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal community. Tribal Council will do everything in our power to ensure that we collectively work towards the best interest of our Tribe and for our members.”
