Speaker: Tom Peters

Grand Traverse Band Tribal Elder

A drum singer, traditional dancer and Pipe Carrier, Tom is a

helper with how traditional values play a role in re-establishing

indigenous identity and rebuilding Native communities. He is

a member of the American Indian Science and Engineering

Society, a founding member of the Nokomis Education

Center, and a founding Board member of the International

Organization for the Preservation of Language. He is a past

Board member of the Michigan Indian Child Welfare Agency

and a 1971 Graduate from Michigan Tech University in

Electrical Engineering. He currently lives in Traverse City, MI.
