And the Winner is….

Ziibiwing!

Ziibiwing took the cake in all three categories (creativity, education, & purplification) this year so they are the one and only winner!!

Congratulations!   You will be enjoying a morning filled with cider, doughnuts, and coffee very soon!

Simply displaying the color purple brings awareness to our community because it prompts conversation about the issue and prevalence of domestic violence, Every ounce of purple counted!  I want to thank everyone who participated in the Paint the Rez Purple Office Competition! Ziibiwing, Nimkee, Grants, Behavioral Health, Library and SECR staff deserve a huge shout-out. I know a lot of heart and effort went into each of your displays. The outpouring of personal stories that are shared during this month are a testament that this campaign is a successful in helping victims feel empowered to share their stories and stand strong feeling support all around them without judgment.    

Jim Cates and Joelle MacDonald, thank you for taking the time to visit each participating department. Your dedication to our efforts does not go unnoticed.

Finally, Miigwetch to all who made DV month an incredible success this year! We truly appreciate the support that we as a department have felt, but most importantly the support you are showing to the victims and their families.  Domestic Violence hurts that whole family and the understanding and attention you are helping bring forward this month is a big step in helping to heal some of that hurt.
