The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal community has selected those candidates who will advance to the General Election scheduled for November 7, 2017.  Tribal members had the opportunity to select 20 candidates from a list of 58 in District 1 that will move on to the General Election. District 2 had two eligible candidates with both moving on to the General Election and District 3 had six candidates with two advancing to the General Election.  Please see the attached results sheet for complete details on the results for this 2017 Tribal Primary Election.

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is comprised of three districts that account for the total registered voting membership of 2,332 out of a possible 2,752 that had an ability to register to vote. District I is the Reservation in Isabella County and has 1,028 registered voters out of a possible 1,159 who were eligible to register.  District 2 is the Saganing Reservation in Arenac County that has 39 registered voters out of the 43 eligible to register.  District 3, or the At-Large district, are those members who are reflective of the remaining Tribal membership that live outside either of the reservations boundaries and account for the remaining 1,265 registered voters out of a possible 1,551 who were eligible to register.

The Election Caucus Committee has reviewed and certified the results of the Primary Election for 2017.  By ordinance, any Tribal member can protest the results of the election within 7 business days of the General Election which will be held on November 7, 2017.  Tribal members must be registered to vote and have voted in the current election to do so. The Caucus Committee has the right to review and determine whether another count is necessary.
