Tribal Council developing merit-based

Staff compensation plan

The Tribal Council, on behalf of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has, in the past, provided a holiday bonus for its employees — although those bonuses were never a guaranteed part of overall employee compensation. And the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort has experienced phenomenal growth the past few years, with staff now approaching around 3,500 employees.

However, to provide bonuses at this time would prove to be fiscally irresponsible. Additionally, there is a new compensation plan to be implemented as early as February, 2001.

Tribal Council recognizes the need to develop merit forms of pay, and pay increases that would prove to be more fiscally responsible and meet the needs of its employees over a prolonged period of time.

This merit form of compensation is currently being developed and the Council is working vigorously to implement the plan by February, 2001. The plan will take into account years of service, performance, level of job responsibility and cost of living (COLA) fluctuations.

Currently, the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort provides its employees and their families an excellent compensation plan, with paid vacation, 401K retirement, personal time off, holiday pay, and paid medical benefits that include health, optical and dental plans.

Combining generous employee compensation packages with the fact the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort is the only four-diamond casino/resort in Michigan helps to draw job applicants from well beyond the Michigan's borders.
