Members wanting to remove names from recall petitions

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Council has received several inquiries from concerned Tribal members regarding the recently submitted “recall petition.” Members have expressed their desire to have their names removed from the submitted petitions.

If you are one of these individuals, it is impossible to have your name removed from the petitions at this time. You may submit a written affidavit signed and dated by a registered Notary Public during the (12) twelve-day review period of the tribal clerk. This action will not cause your name to be removed, but will cause your name to not be counted during the process of verifying the required 30% district signatures. Please be advised that your name can only be disallowed if you swear that you have been coerced into signing by threats, or that you were persuaded to sign by misrepresentation about the nature of the petition or about the truth of the charges against the Council member whose removal is sought. Please feel free to call tribal clerk Terri Rueckert at (989) 775-4057 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday if you have further questions.
