Tribe supports State Senator Byrum’s Run for US Congress

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe hosted a fund-raiser for State Senator, Diane Byrum who is running for the Michigan 8th Congressional Seat. The fundraising dinner took place June 20, 2000 in the Convention Center's Saginaw Room at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. A reception took place one half-hour prior to the 6 p.m. dinner.

This is an important congressional race for Native Nations and people. We need someone that recognizes the Tribe’s efforts are not specifically “gaming for gaming sake.” Tribal gaming is a business that helps Tribal communities to build greater sustenance and toward a greater future. State Senator Byrum’s election to Congress would support the successes gained by Tribal nations, including the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan — which is also beneficial for all of greater Isabella County and Tribal Communities. If you are a Michigan resident that wants to maintain the success she has helped gain for the Tribal communities, including ours, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe urges you to contribute to her campaign.
