Grand Council of 3 Fires Meets

The Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, in conjunction with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, and the Hannahville Potowatomomi Indian Community, hosted an assembly of the Grand Council of the Three Fires Wednesday, March 15. This historic event reaffirmed the spirit and guidance of our forefathers as today’s tribal leaders formed a united coalition addressing federal and state issues affecting tribal self-sufficiency and unity.

Tribal chairs, chiefs, councils, pipe carriers, fire keepers and support staff shared their knowledge, leadership, guidance and spiritual wisdom at the assembly. The gathering began at 7 AM on Wednesday and continued to its conclusion with a celebration feast at 5 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2000.
