Alexander Mark Walraven

Alexander Mark Walraven, 88, of Hampton Twp., our kind, generous, faithful, and friendly father,

grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who left us peacefully on Saturday,

July 19, 2025 at Brian's House. Alex was born on September 26, 1936, in Essexville, to the late

Ernest and Olivia (Issac) Walraven, Alex lived a full and vibrant life that brought joy to those

around him.

Growing up, Alex enjoyed countless adventures with family and friends. Whether it was working

on the family farm, setting pins at the local bowling alley, or spending quality time hunting and

fishing with his dad and uncles, he embraced every moment He even left his mark as a Golden

Gloves boxer-just one of many talents he showcased during his youth. A proud graduate of St.

Johns High School, his early years were filled with fond memories that he cherished throughout

his life.

In a true love story, Alex met Rose Pietruszewski at a teen dance. Their romance blossomed,

leading to a beautiful marriage on July 7, 1956. Alex and Rose shared 55 unforgettable years

together until her passing on April 11, 2012. Together, they raised a loving family, a proud

accomplishment that Alex always valued, as he watched them grow into a family of over 30.

For many years, Alex was a dedicated farmer, but he also contributed to the community as a

valued employee at Essroc Material Cement, where he worked his way up to plant manager

before retiring. Throughout his life, he was deeply involved with his community as a member of

St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, the Knights of Columbus, Short Horn Club, Saginaw Chippewa Indian

Tribe, and the American Management Association.

A lover of the outdoors, Alex spent many days golfing, hunting, and fishing, nurturing his

beautiful yard, and enjoying time at his hunting cabin in the Upper Peninsula.

Alex is survived by his children, Deborah Christie, Paige (Mike) Vanderlooven, and Tim

(Christine) Walraven; grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrew Christie, Brianna and Russel

Wildraven, Kara and Chris Hotchkiss, Samantha and Derek Noel, Cody and Sara Walraven,

Mariah and Nicholas Rohde, Miles and Tyler Walraven, Sawyer Walraven, Daniel and Ashley

Walraven, Ashley and James Hutchinson, Evan Korbut, Ethan and Brittany Korbut, and Noah

Korbut; great-grandchildren, lzabella and Yoshida, Elmer, Rosalie, Hadley, Mila, Cambrey, Carter,

Dash, Aubrey, Easton, Lucas, Civana, Ashton, Taylor, Maverick, Malcolm, Gabriel, Mikayla, and

Kaylon; sister, Barbara (Darrel) Walraven; sister-in-law, Geraldine Pietruszewski and several

nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Alex was also preceded in death

by his sons, Mark and Daniel Walraven; siblings, Eugene Walraven, Bill Walraven, Ernest

Walraven, Janice Bennett, Judy Mclellen, Gerald Walraven, and Patricia (Dan) Tarkowski; inlaws,

Barney and Delores Pietruszewski and David Pietruszewski.

Alex's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 2:00 PM until Alex's 7:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N.

Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Fr. T.J. Fleming will preside with interment held privately at St.

Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Brian's House. Expressions of
