Richard Nahgahgwon

Age 92, of Hale, MI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. He was born on September 16, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, MI to the late Lawrence and Clara (Bennett) Nahgahgwon. Richard worked at MichCon Gas of Tawas City, MI as a meter reader for over 30 years. He loved drawing and hunting, and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Richard is survived by his children, Amanda Nahgahgwon of Interlochen, MI, Tim Stevens of Hale, MI, and Kim Stevens of Bay City, MI; brothers, Ernie (Beverly) Nahgahgwon of Oscoda, MI, and Gerald (April) Nahgahgwon of Bay City, MI; sisters, Ethel Lingford of Wisconsin, Viola Nahgahgwon of Tawas City, MI, and Laura Schaad of Washington; grandchildren, Sheri Nedwash, Chris Williams, Tosha Bannister, and Greg Hill; great-grandchildren, Joel Nedwash, Samantha Nedwash, and River Brumfield; nieces and nephews, Kandy Ojeda, Anita N., Marion Joseph, Gilbert Williams and many more. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Stevens (Nahgahgwon), daughers, Leatta Nedwash and Pamela Stevens; sons, Richard Nahgahgwon, Jr. and David Joseph (Nahgahgwon); brothers, Lawrence Nahgahgwon Jr., Harold Nahgahgwon, and Arnold Nahgahgwon and sisters, Marlene Garlick, and Mildred Nahgahgwon, and great-grandson, Daniel Nedwash. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Oscoda Indian Mission Church located at 7994 Alvin Rd. Mikado, MI 48745.
