Men's Winter League Offers Overtime Thriller in Second Week Action

On Sunday, February 17, week two action dominated the 'Nest as the seven team 2013 Men's Winter League athletes continued their walk to their March Madness double elimination tourney. Team Chippewas took the opening tip off and cruised to a 72-35 victory over the Saginaw Thunder . Jordan Ham led the way with 15 points and knocked down 5 threepointers in the process. Team "Ball Til We Fall" fell all over the Freeballers 111-43. The dynamic duo of Frank Issac and Justin Williams netted 30+ points a piece. Team Chippewas also won the second game of their double header 62-46 versus The A-Team. Point Guard Cody Callahan (#32) led the way with 16 points. The night cap game of the evening found the Basketball Dinosaurs evolve to a 67-62 thriller in overtime. Shane Petri had 18 points and 11 rebounds and John "Pax" Chippewa was right behind him with 17 points . "Pax" hit a three pointer to give the Dinosaurs the lead 57-54 with 5.8 seconds remaining but Bear Raphael answered with his own long distance shot as time expired to knot the game at 57-57. "Both teams showed they were in it to win it," Men's Winter League Commissioner Kevin Ricketts exclaimed. "It was definitely a tournament - like atmosphere going on and the crowd and the players on the court could feel the energy."
