Mark Alex Walraven - July 17, 1958 - April 9, 2025
4/10/2025 10:41:00 AM - Final Journey

Mark Alex Walraven, 66, of Hampton Twp., our respectful, passionate, friendly, and witty son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Brian's House. Mark was born on July 17, 1958, in Essexville, to Alex and Rose Marie (Pietruszewski) Walraven, and he always held a special place in his heart for his family and friends.

Mark graduated from Garber High School in 1976, and he went on to build a solid career in the auto industry. He worked for General Motors, spent time at Eagle Claw in Colorado, and contributed to the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, where he was proud of his heritage and connection to the community.

Known for his friendly nature, Mark was the kind of person who genuinely cared about everyone he met. He was a faithful member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, where he found joy and comfort in his faith and community.

Mark had a zest for life that was reflected in his love for fishing, his frequent trips to the casino, and his long drives through the countryside—affectionately referred to as "crop tours." He found beauty and inspiration in the simple things around him.

Mark is survived by his father, Alex Walraven; sisters, Deborah Christie and Paige (Mike) Vanderlooven; brother, Tim (Christine Taylor) Walraven; special aunt, Barb (Darrell) Walraven; best friend, Brad Wiedyk; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Christie, Brianna Laberge, Kara (Kris) Hotchkiss, Samantha (Derek) Noel, Cody (Sara) Walraven, Mariah (Nick) Rohde, Miles (Tyler) Walraven, Sawyer Walraven, Daniel Walraven, Ashley Liskey, Evan Korbut, Ethan (Brittany) Korbut, and Noah Korbut; great nieces and nephews, Isabelle, Elmer, Rosalie, Hadley, Cambry, Carter, Dash, Aubrey, Easton, Lucas, Civana, Ashton, Taylor, Maverick, Malcom, Gabriel, Mikayla, Madden, Makenzie, and Kyden. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie Walraven; brother, Daniel Walraven and several aunts and uncles.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. A Celebration of Life for Mark will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Brian's House. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
