Over 15 years ago our mother Annette Alberts passed away from complications of Breast Cancer, leaving our step father Frank Alberts (Sag Chip Member) to live here on this earth without her. This January our dad Frank Alberts, passed away from complications of Prostate Cancer to begin his journey with our mom, and with them both gone we would like to show our respect.

They spent many years together and enjoyed always coming to the Pow Wow every year. Our family has gathered together at the Mt. Pleasant Pow Wow for years, and we look forward to seeing our family members during our time back in Mt. Pleasant.

Our family would like to honor them with a jingle special that will bring prayers to all those who are suffering from Breast cancer and Prostate cancer. Our special is not meant to be a high end money special, rather we would like to bring the reason for the dress back to the competition circuit. The dress is a healing dress and we would like to show that in the modest way the dance begun and it is still a beautiful and graceful celebration of our strength as Anishinaabe.

Prizes for the special:

  • 1st place - $500.00, Pendleton blanket and a trophy buckle
  • 2nd place - Pendleton blanket and some material
  • 3rd place - Pendleton blanket
