Girls On The Run (GOTR) of Isabella and Gratiot Counties is hosting its annual New Balance Girls on the Run 5K on Saturday, May 15th at 9:30am in Island Park in downtown Mt. Pleasant. The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Council, Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center, Tribal participants in the PEAK (Program Enrichment for After-school Kids) program are all actively involved in this event. Over 435 third through sixth grade girls will be participating along with their coaches!

Girls on the Run is a 10 week self-esteem boosting, after school program for young girls in grades 3 through 6 that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

Throughout the program the girls train together to walk or run in a 5K (3.1 mile) running event and celebration. There is an open division, which is open to everyone (men, women, boys and girls).

If you are interested in participating in the event, you can register online now or you can register at the event beginning at 7:30 am. The registration fee is $20 which includes a 5k t-shirt!

If you would like to volunteer at the 5K, please contact Sarah Bendele.

It's going be a great time, so come out and support Girls On The Run!
