Dorothy Netmop, 98, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at Woodland Hospice House. She was born October 11, 1925, in Pinconning, Michigan, daughter of the late Aaron and Gladys (Shawbush) Sawmick. Her marriage was blessed with six children: William, Sharon, Rita, Rodney, Robert, and Mary. Dorothy was a member and employee of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. She enjoyed attending Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene. Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing, quilting, puzzles, watching game shows, eating out with friends, and traveling with seniors on various trips. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Ron) Sasse of Gladwin and Mary (Mike) Floyd of Mt. Pleasant; daughters in-law, Cindy Netmop of Gladwin and Sue Netmop of Lake Isabella; son in-law, John Bills of Gladwin; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Cindy Floyd. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, William, Rita, Rodney, and Robert; and brothers, Ralph and George Sawmick. Dorothy’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Perry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). She will be laid to rest in McClure Cemetery in Gladwin. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
