Mt. Pleasant, Michigan The Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture & Lifeways and Exclusive Sponsor, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. present the first of four Artist-in-Residence Mentoring Programs on Monday, March 9 - Friday, March 13, 2009. Renee "Wasson" Dillard will lead the workshop and focus on Great Lakes Indian basketry techniques and mediums. The 5-day Basketry Workshop is $25 per participant.

Renee is a highly-skilled woodland natural fiber artist from the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa (Waganakising Odawa). She has been teaching Anishinabe culture, basketry, traditions, and history for more than a quarter of a century. Renee is an engaging teacher who has presented at conferences and workshops in the United States and Canada. Her unique style reveals her serious commitment to the environment, to individual holistic health, and to bringing balance to communities through education, humor, and stories.

The Basketry Workshop will be held Monday - Friday at the Ziibiwing Center from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. Space is limited. All participants must register in advance and be 18 or older. Call to sign up today!
