Our award-winning Diba Jimooyung permanent exhibit features over 500 rare artifacts, interactive displays and an award-winning theater. An interpretive guided tour through our Diba Jimooyung Permanent exhibit, led by an Anishinabe tour guide will take you on a journey throughout the time of our ancestors. Your tour may be tailored to meet your group’s needs. This is the premier opportunity for educating students and all other groups about the history and culture of the Great Lakes Anishinabek. A guided tour through our Diba Jimooyung permanent exhibit lasts 45 minutes to an hour and a half and can be customized to fit your schedule.

School Tour Groups

  • Educator Satisfaction Survey.
  • Rules & Regulations should be reviewed with students in advance of your visit.
  • Chaperones: We recommend at least one supervising adult for every five students in grades Preschool-1st grade and one chaperone for every ten students in grades 2nd - 12th. Chaperones are asked to supervise and remain with their group at all times.
  • Changes or Cancellations due to school closings, inclement weather, flu outbreaks are rescheduled at no additional charge. If you need to cancel or reschedule please call the Ziibiwing Center at 989.775.4750.
  • Upon Arrival: Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time of your tour to get checked in. Please bring a copy of your visit confirmations sheet.
  • Bus Drop-Off & Parking: Busses may pull up to the front of the building to drop off students. Bus parking is available in a designated area of the parking lot.
  • Lunch: Food may be brought into the Ziibiwing Center, but lunch facilities are limited and reservations are required for school groups. There is no on-site cafeteria but catering is available with at least two weeks advance notice.
  • Gift Shop: Our gift shop features handmade Anishinabek jewelry, art, and clothing from more than 150 Great Lakes Anishinabek artists. It also features one of the largest selections of NorthAmerican Indian literature and media in Michigan. Items beginning at $1.00 are available for your students, but $5.00 per student is suggested for more purchasing options. If you include the gift shop in your visit, please allow at least fifteen minutes of extra time. Chaperones must accompany students in the gift shop.
