Mt. Pleasant, Michigan The Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture & Lifeways and Exclusive Sponsor, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. present the second of four Artist-in-Residence Mentoring Programs on Monday, June 15 - Friday, June 19, 2009. Catherine Nagy Mowry will lead the workshop and focus on traditional Miami corn husk figures and clothing making.

Catherine Nagy Mowry is an award-winning artist from the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma whose work has been featured at the Eiteljorg Indian Art Market. She has presented her unique skills at workshops, demonstrations, and lectures throughout the Great Lakes region. Her devotion to replicate her ancestor's traditional ways has allowed her the opportunity to share the gifts of corn husk figures and clothing making that are a vital part of Miami life.

The Corn Husk Figures Workshop will be held Monday - Friday at the Ziibiwing Center from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. Space is limited. All participants must register in advance and be 18 or older. The 5-day Corn Husk Figures Workshop is $25 per participant. Call to sign up today!
