Four District 1 incumbents-including Chief Phillip Peters Sr.-failed in their bid for re-election on Nov. 6 with about 75 percent of the Tribe's registered voters participating in the general election.

District 1 voters were allowed to vote for 10 of the 20 candidates who appeared on the ballot, District 2 (Saganing) had one choice, while District 3 (At-Large) selected one individual from four candidates to complete the 12-person Tribal Council.

In addition to Peters, two other Executive Council members were not chosen by voters to serve another two-year term. Sub-Chief John Hart Sr. finished 14th with 155 votes, while Secretary Jeanette Leaureaux garnered 153 votes along with incumbent Bernard Sprague. Peters finished 13th with 159 votes.

Incumbent Maynard Kahgegab Jr., who campaigned with seven others as the "Slate of Eight" was the top vote getter with 216 votes. Six members of the group were elected to Tribal Council by District 1 voters. Those individuals include Timothy Davis, 203; incumbent David Otto, 202; Gerald Slater, 191; Diana Quigno-Grundahl, 190; Lindy Hunt, 178; and Robert Pego Sr., 172. The other "Slate of Eight" candidate, Raymond Davis, finished 11th with 167 votes.

The remaining Tribal Council seats for District 1 were filled by three incumbents Ruth Moses, 185; Delmar Jackson Sr., 177 and Sue Durfee, 168.

Voters in District 2 had one candidate-Connie Freiburger-for voters to select. Of the 35 registered voters for the district, 11 participated. Freiburger received nine votes, with two ballots being declared spoiled.

District 3 incumbent Ron Jackson, who currently serves as treasurer, was re-elected after defeating three other candidates. Jackson's 217 votes topped Harold Gould's second place finish with 161. Thelma-Henry Shipman received 92 votes, with Sharon Skutt securing 69 votes. Of the 882 registered voters for District 3, 541 or about 61 percent, cast ballots.
