Tribal Community Activities July 2014

Language Bingo will be on Thursday, July 3rd at Andahwod from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Tribal Operations and all related offices will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

Ziibiwing Center will hold American Indian Dance - Awaken Your Spirit on Saturday, July 5th, 12th and 19th. This event is free and open to the public.

Community Service Day is Tuesday, July 8th from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Broadway Park.

Traditional Healer, Donnie Dowd, will be at Behavioral Health on Wednesday and Thursday, July 8th and 9th Please call 775-4879 for more information.

All SCIT Tribal Member Elders from all districts can enjoy a free Elder's Breakfast on Wednesday, July 9th & 23rd at Andahwod from 9 am to 10 am.

Jake & Mary Pine will be at 7th Generation on July 10th and 11th. Please call (989) 775-4780 for an appointment.

Grandmother Moon Ceremony will be held at Behavioral Health on Friday, July 11th from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Super Saturday Football Clinic is Saturday, July 12th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Tribal Gym.

The Tribal Observer deadline for the August issue is Monday, July 16th at 3 p.m.

Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Elders can play Bingo with Friends at Andahwod on Wednesday, July 16th at 1 p.m.

A Housing Department Financial Workshop will take place on Thursday, July 17th at noon with lunch included at the Housing Conference Room.

Saganing Health and Safety Fair will be on Thursday, July 17th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Saganing Tribal Center.

Elder's Bingo with Friends will take place at Andahwod on Thursday, July 17th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

7th Generation will have a Summer Feast on Thursday, July 17th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Michigan Indian Family Olympics will be held on Friday, July 18th at CMU's Bennett Track & Field. Registration closes at 10 a.m.

LEAD Department has planned a Super Saturday Kids Fishing Tournament for Saturday, July 19th.

Twins Luncheon will be held on Monday, July 21st from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Nimkee Public Health Kitchen.

Ziibiwing's Native Fest starts on Tuesday, July 22nd with Indian Car Bingo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 23rd is Music & Comedy Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 24th is Smokey Joe Jackson's Collection Showing.

The Tribal Community Meeting will take place on Thursday, July 24th at the Entertainment Hall. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the meeting will start at 10 a.m.

The 30th Annual Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Powwow "Together We Honor Our Children" will be held at the Tribal Campgrounds on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, July 25th, 26th & 27th. This is a drug and alcohol free event.

Freedom Walk will take place on Saturday, July 26th. Breakfast will be served at the Tribal Gym starting at 8 a.m.

The Summer Reading Program continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tribal Library and ends on Friday, July 31st. All ages are invited to participate!

Niibing program ends Thursday, July 31st and is now open to 7th and 8th graders. Contact the LEAD Dept. at 775-4071 for more information.

Ziibiwing will hold a Cradleboard Workshop on Monday, August 4th to Friday, August 11th. Only accepting the first 10 recipients.

Tuesday Night Fishing will run until Friday, August 29th. For more information, please contact (9890 775-4128.

Enjoy dinner at Andahwod Senior Facility every Thursday from 4:30 pm - 6 pm – to go dinners are available.

The Seventh Generation Program has a sacred fire lunch every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Elijah Elk building on the corner of Remus and Shepherd roads.

Native Farmer's Market meets on the corner of Broadway and Leaton every Wednesday until October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lacrosse practice is every Wednesday and Thursday and starts at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the field behind the Public Safety building.

Horseshoe League is every Wednesday at the Tribal Campground from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Anishinaabe Language Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Lunch Bunch meets every Wednesday from noon to 1 pm at the Language Center

Enjoy Open Gym on Wednesdays at the Tribal Gym from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Women's Traditions is held at Behavioral Health on Mondays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

Keyboarding and Learnkey is held on Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to noon at the IT department.
