Tribal Community Activities November 2014

  • Now is an important time for your voice to be heard so exercise your right as an American citizen and vote in the United States midterm State elections on Tuesday, November 4th.

  • Please join the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College for Native American Month Kickoff on Tuesday, November 4th at the new campus site on Leaton & Remus roads for food, crafts, cocoa and registrations from 12 pm to 3 pm.

  • Saganing Tribal Center will host a Helping Healer Luncheon on Wednesday, November 5th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Language Bingo will be on Thursday, November 6th at Andahwod from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Jake & Mary Pine will be at 7th Generation on Thursday and Friday, November 6th & 7th.  Please call (989) 775-4787 for an appointment.

  • 7th Generation Program will host a Fall Feast on Wednesday, October 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ceremonial Building.

  • Grandmother Moon Ceremony will be held at Behavioral Health Lodge on Wednesday, October 8th  from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Traditional Healer, Donnie Dowd, will be at Behavioral Health on Thursday, November 6th for a Men & Women's Sweat from 9 p.m. to midnight and traditional healing on Friday, November 7th. Please call (989) 775-4850 for an appointment.

  • Jake & Mary Pine will be at 7th Generation on Thursday and Friday, October 9th & 10th.  Please call (989) 775-4780 for an appointment.

  • Grandmother Moon Ceremony will be held at Behavioral Health Lodge on Friday, November 7th from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Ziibiwing Center will host a Spirit Feast on Friday, November 7th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ziibiwing Center.

  • Celebration of Healing, Recovery & Hope will have a Car Rally, Celebration and Feast on Saturday, November 8th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tribal Gym. Car line-up will start at Saginaw Chippewa Academy at 11:30 a.m.

  • The Annual Veterans Feast will take place on Saturday, November 8th at SEC&R Ballroom from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

  • Tribal Operations will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th for Veterans Day.

  • Veterans Breakfast will be held along with regular Elders Breakfast at Andahwod on Wednesday, November 12th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

  • All SCIT Tribal Member Elders from all districts can enjoy a free Elder's Breakfast on Wednesday, November 12th & 26th at Andahwod from 9 am to 10 am.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College is having Traditional Corn Soup on Thursday, November 13th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Campus West 2.

  • The Community Rx Drug Drop-off will take place on Friday, November 14th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cardinal Pharmacy.

  • The Tribal Observer deadline for the December issue is Friday, November 14th at 3 p.m.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College will have Black Ash Basketry with Kelly Church on Friday, November 14th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Campus West 2 for the first 20 registrants only.

  • Ziibiwing will host By the Shores of Turtle Island . . . Collection Showing on Saturday, November 15th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Women's Support Group meets Tuesday, November 18th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Transportation, childcare and dinner is provided.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College is having a Science Presentation on Tuesday, November 18th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Campus West Building.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Elders Bingo with Friends will be held at Andahwod on Wednesday, November 19th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • A Housing Department Financial Workshop will take place on Thursday, November 20th at noon with lunch included at the Housing Conference Room.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College will have Anishinaabe Crafts: Make and Take on Thursday, November 20th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Campus West 2.

  • Home for the Holidays Thanksgiving Dinner will be held in the Tribal gym on Thursday, November 20th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Andahwod will host a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 20th from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Nimkee's Health Start Family Spirit Grandparent's Boot Camp will be held on Friday, November 21st at Nimkee Kitchen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Trial College is having a Baby Moccasin Class on Friday, November 21st from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Campus West 2.

  • Circle of Indigenous Arts Market & Competition will be held at Ziibiwing on Friday & Saturday, November 21st & 22nd from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

  • Men Stepping Up will take place at the Eagle's Nest on Saturday, November 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College will host Lee Sprague for a Wild Rice Presentation on Tuesday, November 25th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • The Elders Frankenmuth Fundraising Trip Raffle will be drawn on Wednesday, November 26th. Tickets available at Andahwod.

  • Tribal Ops will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27th & 28th for Thanksgiving.

  • Adult Child Family Services is holding a Foster Care Fundraiser Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 6th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tribal Gym.

  • Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center is having a logo contest. The winner will receive one night stay at SEWP and be chosen by the Health Board and Clinic on Tuesday, December 16th.

  • Struggling or need support? Residential Treatment Center - Behavioral Health is now offering drop-in relapse prevention groups twice a week. Mondays - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays - 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • The Seventh Generation Program has a sacred fire lunch every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Elijah Elk building on the corner of Remus and Shepherd roads.

  • Anishinaabe Ogitchedaw Veterans Society meets the first Tuesday of the month in the Senior's Room of Tribal Operation from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Anishinaabe Language Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm.

  • Lunch Bunch meets every Wednesday from noon to 1 pm at the Language Center.

  • Enjoy Open Gym on Wednesdays at the Tribal Gym from 6 pm to 9 pm.

  • Women's Traditions is held at Behavioral Health on Mondays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

  • Keyboarding and Learnkey is held on Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to noon at the IT department.
