Tribal Community Activities October 2014

  • Report Suspicious or Criminal Activity by call the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Hotline at (989) 775-4775.

  • Walk-In Flu Clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 1st at the Nimkee Lobby from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 6 months & up.

  • A Self Defense Class will be held on Thursday, October 2nd from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tribal Gym. Please call (989) 775-4400 to reserve a spot.

  • Traditional Healer, Donnie Dowd, will be at Behavioral Health on Thursday, October 2nd and Tuesday, October 21st for a Men & Women's Sweat from 9 p.m. to midnight and on Friday October 3rd and Wednesday, October 22nd, for traditional healing. Please call (989) 775-4850 for an appointment.

  • Domestic Violence Clothesline Project will be held on Monday, October 6th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Behavioral Health.

  • Ziibiwing is hosting Powwow Style Beadwork Workshop with Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Artist Iliana Bennett on October 6th - 10th. Call (989) 775-4744 for registration.

  • 7th Generation Program will host a Fall Feast on Wednesday, October 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ceremonial Building. 

  • Grandmother Moon Ceremony will be held at Behavioral Health Lodge on Wednesday, October 8th  from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • All SCIT Tribal Member Elders from all districts can enjoy a free Elder's Breakfast on Wednesday, October 8th & 22nd at Andahwod from 9 am to 10 am.

  • Jake & Mary Pine will be at 7th Generation on Thursday and Friday, October 9th & 10th.  Please call (989) 775-4780 for an appointment.

  • Paint the Rez Purple 1.5 mile Domestic Violence Walk/Run will be held on Saturday, October 11th at Behavioral Health.  Registration begins at 10 a.m.

  • Indigenous Peoples Day is Monday, October 13th .  CMU will be hosting Soup & Substance starting at noon and followed by film screening of “The Canary Effect” at 4:30 p.m. in the Bovee Auditorium sponsored in part by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe and Ziibiwing Center.

  • Eagle Feather Cleansing will take at Ziibiwing on Wednesday, October 15th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Attention Saginaw Chippewa Higher Education students, the Fall 2014 deadline for Tribal Scholarship funding is Wednesday, October 15th.

  • A Housing Department Financial Workshop will take place on Thursday, October 16th at noon with lunch included at the Housing Conference Room.

  • Eagle Feathering Honoring will take place on Thursday and Friday, October 16th & 17th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Ziibiwing will host an Eagle Feather Feast on Friday, October 17th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The Tribal Observer deadline for the November issue is Friday, October 17th at 3 p.m.

  • Andahwod is having a Rummage & Craft Sale on Saturday, October 18th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (989) 775-4302 to reserve a table.

  • Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center is having their 19th Annual Feather Link Tea & Luncheon on Tuesday, October 21st from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Soaring Eagle Hotel.

  • Women's Support Group meets Tuesday, October 21st from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Transportation, childcare and dinner is provided.

  • A Lunch & Learn “In Her Shoes” will be held on Thursday, October 23rd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 7th Generation.

  • Elder's Birthday Bingo will be held at Andahwod on Saturday, October 25th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Family Emergency Preparedness will be held on Monday, October 27th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 7th Generation.

  • Trunk or Treat will be held on Thursday, October 30th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the Halloween Haunt will be held at the Tribal Gym from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Struggling or need support? Residential Treatment Center - Behavioral Health is now offering drop-in relapse prevention groups twice a week. Mondays - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays - 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • The Seventh Generation Program has a sacred fire lunch every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Elijah Elk building on the corner of Remus and Shepherd roads.

  • Anishinaabe Ogitchedaw Veterans Society meets the first Tuesday of the month in the Senior's Room of Tribal Operation from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Anishinaabe Language Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm.

  • Lunch Bunch meets every Wednesday from noon to 1 pm at the Language Center.

  • Enjoy Open Gym on Wednesdays at the Tribal Gym from 6 pm to 9 pm.

  • Women's Traditions is held at Behavioral Health on Mondays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

  • Keyboarding and Learnkey is held on Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to noon at the IT department.
