Tribal Community Activities August 2014

  • Daughters of Tradition will be held on Friday, August 1st and 15th from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Old Council Conference Room of Tribal Operations.

  • Stop in to see beautiful works of art for Art Walk Central at the Ziibiwing Center from Friday, August 1st to Saturday, August 23rd

  • Ziibiwing will host a Cradleboard Workshop on August 4th to 8th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Walk In School and Sports Physicals along with Dental will take place at Nimkee Clinic for the first 30 kids on Tuesday, August 5th and Thursday, August 7th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • A Job Fair will be held in the lobby of Ziibiwing for Warehouse Clerks and Webstore Clerks on Tuesday,August 5, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be snacks and a prize away.

  • Language Bingo will be on Thursday, August 7th at Andahwod from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Jake & Mary Pine will be at 7th Generation on Thursday and Friday, August 7th and 8th. Please call (989) 775-4780 for an appointment.
  • Ziibiwing will host a World Indigenous Peoples Day Double Feature Film Screening on Saturday, August 9th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Grandmother Moon Ceremony will be held at Behavioral Health on Monday, August 11th from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • The Summer Youth Banquet will be held on Friday, August 15th at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Entertainment Hall starting at 4 p.m.

  • The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe along with Fifth Third Bank will offer an Empower U Educational Series on Monday, August 11th from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Monday, August 18th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Andahwod.

  • Traditional Healer, Donnie Dowd, will be at Behavioral Health on Wednesday, August 13th & August 27th Please call 775-4879 for more information.

  • A Baby Celebration will be held at 7th Generation on Wednesday, August 13th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • All SCIT Tribal Member Elders from all districts can enjoy a free Elder's Breakfast on Wednesday, August 13th & 27th at Andahwod from 9 am to 10 am.

  • 2014 Rez Ball will take place on Wednesday, August 13th at noon in the parking lot of Tribal Operations. A Slam Dunk Contest will take place during intermission.

  • Tribal Operations Employee Picnic will take place on Thursday, August 14th, 2014 at Island Park Pavilion from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Food, games, prizes, dunk tank and much more.

  • The 2014 LEADerboard Open Golf Tournament will take place on Sunday, August 17th. Shotgun starts at 10 a.m. Register by contacting the LEAD Department by August 8th.

  • The Tribal Observer deadline for the September issue is Monday, August 18th at 3 p.m.

  • Women's Support Group meets Tuesday, August 19th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Transportation, childcare and dinner is provided.

  • Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Elders can play Bingo with Friends at Andahwod on Wednesday, August 20th at 1 p.m.

  • A Housing Department Financial Workshop will take place on Thursday, August 21st at noon with lunch included at the Housing Conference Room.

  • In Celebration of American Indian Sobriety Month, a Back to School Block Party will take place on Thursday, August 21st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Broadway Pavilion.

  • District #1 Tribal Elders day trip to Cold Water Lake will take place on Saturday, August 23rd at noon. Please sign up at Andahwod before August 19th.

  • Behavioral Health is hosting a Community Open House on Tuesday, August 26th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Come and enjoy great prizes, acupuncture, entertainment and more.

  • The LEADS Department is sponsoring a Cedar Point Family Trip on Tuesday, August 26th. Bus departs at the Tribal Center at 6 a.m. Tickets are $50 for each person and will be first come first serve.

  • A Labor Day Picnic will be held at the Tribal Campground on Monday, September 1st starting at noon.

  • Tribal Operations and all related offices will be closed on Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day.

  • The Seventh Generation Program has a sacred fire lunch every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Elijah Elk building on the corner of Remus and Shepherd roads.

  • Native Farmer's Market meets on the corner of Broadway and Leaton every Wednesday until October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Lacrosse practice is every Wednesday and Thursday and starts at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the field behind the Public Safety building.

  • Anishinaabe Language Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm.

  • Lunch Bunch meets every Wednesday from noon to 1 pm at the Language Center.

  • Enjoy Open Gym on Wednesdays at the Tribal Gym from 6 pm to 9 pm.

  • Women's Traditions is held at Behavioral Health on Mondays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

  • Keyboarding and Learnkey is held on Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to noon at the IT department.
