Details

A crew from the Ludington Biological Station will conduct lampricide treatments on the Chippewa and Pine Rivers as detailed below during the time period of May 17 to May 25, 2016. Tentatively, treatment of the Chippewa River will begin on May 20, 2016 and treatment of the Pine River on May 21, 2016. Changes to this tentative schedule may be necessary based on conditions near the time of treatment.

In addition to conducting treatments, personnel with valid scientific collector's permits may take a limited number of select fish (primarily lampreys) by electro-fishing from the stream(s) for toxicity testing. All other species captured incidentally will be identified and released unharmed.

A news release will be sent this week to several print and broadcast media and county environmental health agencies as part of the notification process. A copy of this release is attached.
