HAWKINS, JONATHAN JOEL “Jhawkk”, age 30, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at his home.

Private Services for Jonathan will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Friends and family are invited to attend the services via a live broadcast on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 1 p.m. by visiting the webcasting link at Jonathan’s Book of Memories at www.clarkfuneralchapel.com or www.facebook.com/clarkfuneralchapel. The family will greet friends at a public visitation on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in Denver Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Jonathan was born February 12, 1991, in Lansing, the son of Andrew Mejia, Sr. and Sherry Hawkins. Jonathan worked as a card dealer at Soaring Eagle Casino. He was a proud member of Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Jonathan was an accomplished chess player, winning many awards even at the state competition. He liked fishing, going to concerts, and playing poker and slots at the casino. Most of all, Jonathan loved his kids.

Jonathan is survived by his mother Sherry Hawkins of Mt. Pleasant; father Andrew (Julie) Mejia, Sr. of Lansing; his children Raynah Perez, Waaseyaa Hawkins, Netayo Hartzog-Hawkins, all of Mt. Pleasant; X’aelee Sloan of Indiana; maternal grandfather Arnold Hawkins of Anchorage, AK; brothers Andrew “Dewey” Mejia, Jr. (“Lupe” Valasquez) of Mt. Pleasant, Alex Mejia Lansing; sisters Jessica Hawkins (Thomas Perrin) of Mt. Pleasant, Cheyenne Mejia of Lansing, Leticia Hawkins of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandma Lucille Jackson; brother Steven Hawkins; and infant daughter Miracle Hawkins.
