Project AWARE: July Snapshot & Trauma Informed Resilient Schools Online Training Opportunities!
8/3/2020 8:13:00 AM - Behavioral Health

To learn more about secondary trauma (a.k.a compassion fatigue or vicarious trauma) and strategies to cope with it, please see the Project AWARE July Snapshot attached, or view it on our Tribal Education website here.

In addition, our Resetting for Resilience online training through STARR Commonwealth is open for registration (email me to sign-up). Please see the flyer attached, or on our website here.  Resetting for Resilience is the second installment of our Trauma Informed Resilient Schools Training. If you missed the first training (in August 2019), the online version is currently FREE on STARR’s website. Sign-up and send your certificate of completion to khenry@sagchip.org to help us fulfill our Project AWARE goal of training Tribal Youth serving employees and community members! Both trainings are self-paced (you can stop and start up where you left off) and take about 6 hours each.

As part of Project AWARE, our SCIT youth serving departments and the Mount Pleasant and Shepherd Public School staff are being trained in the Trauma Informed Resilient Schools model, which we will be implementing in all of our schools over the course of our 5 year grant partnership (through 2023). This model has been shown to benefit all students, and this is a great opportunity to learn more about how our schools are working together to better serve our students and communities!

Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas about our Snapshot, training, or Project AWARE.
