Phillip Shenoskey, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born May 3, 1962, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Edward Joseph Shenoskey and Gloria Jeane Kahgegab. He married Della Gavrun on October 3, 1989, in Grand Rapids. He was a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe where he worked as a dental assistant for seven years. He was involved with Boy Scouts, was trained in CPR, and had attended tribal college. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, camping, and cooking. He was very fond of his guitar collection. Phillip is survived by his wife of 30 years, Della; seven children, Alisha (Luis) Velazco, Tyler (Mary) Shenoskey, Seth Shenoskey (Megan Frost), Talitha Shenoskey, and Jonah Osawabine (Ceceilia Cooper) all of Mt. Pleasant, Matthew (K.C.) Springberg of Traverse City, and Anastasia Simmons of Cadillac; 19 grandchildren; his father, Edward Shenoskey of Harbor Springs; sister, Miranda Shenoskey of Mt. Pleasant; mother in-law, Mary Gavrun of Hopkins; and special aunt, Gail George of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Phillip Shenoskey Jr.; mother, Gloria Marshall; siblings, Gillian Jan Shenoskey Sr. and Edward Shenoskey Jr.; and father in-law, John Gavrun Sr. Phillip’s funeral will be 12 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with pastor Vincent Baltierra officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery following the meal. Memorial contributions may be made to Henry Ford Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
