Ronald Jackson

Ronald Jackson, age 81, of Hubbardston passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 26, 1938 in Lansing the son of Robert and Florence (Schmitter) Jackson. Ron served his country in the United States Army. He had a great love for learning and continued his education throughout his entire life. On April 15, 1967 he married Barbara Schrauben at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carson City.

Ron worked for Fisher Body in Lansing for over 30 years, holding many positions. In 1986, he retired as a Human Resource Director. Upon retiring from Fisher Body, he went on to serve over a decade as a Tribal Councilman of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, holding various terms of executive positions as Chief, Secretary and Treasurer. He could often be found helping others in need of electrical work in their homes.

Ron had a great love of animals and the out of doors. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.

Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara of Hubbardston; two daughters, Ronda Jones of Grand Ledge and Michelle Colwell of Rosebush; three grandchildren, Breanna, Gage and Casey; two brothers, Roger (Ann Clark) Jackson and Roland Jackson; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary (Dale) Freund, Lloyd Loomis, Steve (Judy Sheaffer) Schrauben, Donna Patton, Pauline (Terry) Gallagher, Betty Shinabarger, Carol (Al) Leasher, Dan (Carol) Schrauben, Anita Schrauben, Janice McCallister and Alice Churchill; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bunny.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jeff Colwell; siblings, Roberta Lovett, Loretta Smith, Robert Jackson, Jr., twin brother, Donald Jackson, Eleanor Ebright, Jackie Jackson, Lorraine Stallcup; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Billy Ray Smith, Ellen Loomis, Jennie Schrauben, Jim Patton, Lyle Shinabarger and Randy Churchill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carson City with Fr. Tom Thompson officiating. Private family interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22nd from 2-5 pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City with a Rosary to begin at 4:30 pm and on Monday from 10 am until the time of services at the church. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Elara Caring Hospice or the Humane Society.
