Please join SCTC Extension in welcoming students from Central Michigan University’s American Sign Language department in the ASL Family Nights.  We ask that those who register commit to attending all 3 nights.  Registration is required as there is limited space.  Please register with me at (989)317-4760 or at sstevens@sagchip.org

I have received a lot of questions about this event and wanted to provide some clarity.

The ASL Family Nights' (American Sign Language) lessons are going to be geared towards 1st-4th graders engaging with their parent/families (children of other ages can come as well).  The CMU ASL students are working on these events as part of their service learning credit class and therefore we have narrowed an audience to focus on for their benefit in planning.

I am not trying to discourage anyone from participating but want everyone to be aware that these lessons are intended to be a healthy and fun way for children and their parents to interact together, while also creating awareness and knowledge about the deaf and hard of hearing community.  These lessons will not go in depth on ASL and will not allow you to converse with deaf or hard of hearing people.  But these hopefully will spark interest and may leave you wanting to learn more about ASL.

When registering with me please advise how many people total you are registering as space is limited.

Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding the ASL Family Nights.
