Baby Celebration - July 6, 2017 | 5:30PM - 8:00PM
7/6/2017 3:00:00 PM - 7th Generation Programs

Guest speakers: Wilfred & Marie Trudeau

Wilfred & Marie (the presenters) will be doing a teaching on the Anishinaabe “Rites of Passage”. We encourage all parents and guardians to listen to this beautiful teaching. There will be many activities for children as well.

Wilfred & Marie Trudeau, Odawa/Ojibway, have two beautiful girls who were raised with a traditional Odawa/Ojibway foundation through planting (their connection to the land), through both traditional and ceremonial dancing, through learning the language within the home and school, through fasting upon Mother Earth.

Coming from the Community of Wiikwemikoong, Ontario on beautiful Manitoulin Island in Canada, where the Odawa/Ojibway language is alive has allowed them to practise the language within the home, community and school.  Both are pipe carriers with Marie inheriting a WWII Eagle Staff from her father.  With Wilfred, a men's traditional dancer and Marie, a jingle dress dancer, both have travelled to many places as Head Male and Head Female dancer.
